Some Details

We decided during the design stages that we would not produce a mount for specific vehicles or holsters since there are so many options. Thus the universal nature of the current holster mount was employed so that customers could find the right place and fit for their own situation. The Sure Set Universal Holster Mount UHM - 001 provides the most versatile, adjustable holster mount available.

All that being said, the Sure Set Universal Holster Mount UHM-001 has been mounted in consoles, on the transmission cowling, under the dashboard, on the door, on the floor and in a glove box, under counters and on bed frames. Some have suggested mounting it on the ceiling, though I have not seen this application in practice.

The Sure Set Universal Holster Mount is so versatile and the mounting possibilities so unlimited that it is inappropriate for us to give specific mounting/holster selection advice.  Further, the decision of where to install your Sure Set Universal Holster Mount is one of personal preference, state and local laws, and the vehicle or other location you wish to use as a mounting base.  Our only advice is that you install the Sure Set Universal Holster Mount so that your gun will be readily accessible and that you follow all laws and safety rules. 

The locking device is a cable with one end swaged and the other end with a loose swag fitting to be tightened by the owner once the Sure Set Universal Holster Mount UHM - 001 is secured in its final configuration. This method is meant to discourage children from tampering with the gun. It is our advice that any un-attended gun be properly stowed in a safe when children are present.

Not all holsters will fit the Sure Set Universal Holster Mount UHM-001, but very many popular ones will. Holsters with belt loops to fit belts 1 1/4" to 2 1/16" can be used. Also, the loops can be 4" apart (outside measurements) if a 1 1/4" belt requirement must be satisfied. A three inch maximum measurement is allowed when wider belts are required for a particular holster. You can see that an Uncle Mike's Kydex holster is mounted to the Sure Set Universal Holster Mount UHM-001 shown on the web site's home page. Here the two expansion plates are in place to widen the belt piece so that the holster has a snug fit. Holsters from each manufacturer are different. Several Fobus holsters I own fit on the Sure Set Universal Holster Mount UHM-001 without requiring the expansion plates.

Please note that the measurements of the mount itself depend on how it is adjusted. The base is 3 1/2" x 3 11/16". The upright is 7" x 1". And the belt unit is 4 3/4" x 1 1/8". If adjusted one particular way, it can be mounted in a space as small as 7" x 3 7/8" x 2 7/8", but this does not take into account your holster and gun.
